This morning, the students read a short story titled, "The Medicine Bag," which focused on a grandson dealing with his dying Sioux grandfather. The grandfather uses some Lakota words throughout the story and dramatically recounts the origin of his medicine bag's contents.
To further the interest of the students in the Lakota language, the dialect of the Teton Sioux, I am providing a website they can use to learn the sounds of the Lakota alphabet as well as words: http://www.lakhota.org/ALPHABET/alphabet.htm
