Wonderful Learning Opportunities @ Don Edwards in Alviso (and Fremont)

On October 21, we will be visiting the salt marshes of Alviso at the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge, more specifically the Environmental Education Center (EEC).

However, the Center offers more than just field trips; they offer learning experiences and ways to enjoy the natural settings the Refuge has to offer at their Alviso site or their Fremont location.

(NOTE: You can also exchange the 4th Grade National Park paper I laminated for your child for a more official card at the EEC.)

Here are a few upcoming activities. They require some form of registration. Almost all of them are FREE, but I will try to mark the ones that do request a fee. Please try to attend one of them!

Clicking on the activity will take you to the registration page.

Fall just arrived but it's still warm in the South Bay.

As the season cooling trend starts to assert itself, fall colors best exemplified in the changing hues in various trees can be a hard sight to catch in the Bay Area.  We lack that explosion of color that draw many "leaf peepers" to the the Northeastern part of the U.S.

Fret not, there are some locations in the Bay to witness the trees preparing for the winter cold.

Here's a list compiled by Parent magazine. Looks interesting! Have a good time if you go!

FREE Movies at the Capitol Drive-In tomorrow!

Per their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/WestWindCapitol6DriveIn), they will be showing the following movies tomorrow for FREE in celebration of their Customer Appreciation Night:

  • Minions
  • Jurassic World
  • Mission Impossible 5
  • San Andreas
Gates will open at 6 p.m. (expect a line of cars way before then), and the movies start at 8 p.m.

If you are not familiar with the Drive-In Theater, you have to pull your car into a designated parking area (all of them are sloped parking spots) and turn on your radio. It is then tuned into a specific FM station to listen to the movie. You can bring whatever food you want to bring in, but they offer a refreshments area and restrooms inside the center building.
