HW - Thursday, 1/29

PARENTS:

  • Cinderella Stories are NOW due MONDAY, February 2! I extended it due to student concerns and my concern that the books would be rushed. Nevertheless, I reduced the HW tonight to allow for students to work on their books.

  • Next month, we will continue to practice for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Common Core Test. Just because we are done with this month's practice, doesn't mean they cannot practice more on their own at home!
  • SIX More TenMarks.com lessons have been assigned to support our current Topic:

    • 4.NF.3c - Strategies for Adding and Subtracting Mixed Numbers

Invasive Species in California

Agriculture is a very important part of California's economy, so we are learning about certain types of invasive species plaguing California's plants and animals. Preventing invasive species from taking hold in the Golden State is a multi-billion dollar industry, but it doesn't always take money to stop the problem: educating others is a cheap but equally effective way of keeping invasive species at bay.

Here are some pictures of the invasive species we are studying about as well as links to more information about the species.

Also, talk to your child about them and find out what they have learned!

Weekend HW and News

Actually, there's no new HW this weekend so they can focus on completing their Cinderella books for this Friday!

Today, we had a pretty successful Science Lab: all the fourth grade classes were in the Multi dissecting owl pellets. The students really got into the activity! Huge thanks goes to Ms. Turner and Ms. Tom for setting it up, facilitating it, and cleaning up after us!

Enjoy putting those books together!
