Some fun things to do this weekend (other than watch Disney's Tomorrowland):
- May 23, 18th Annual Bay Area Classic YoYo Championships. Nuff said. And it's FREE. Not sold on it? Check out Yuuki Spencer's demonstration from a previous competition. Yeah, he placed First. Your Kendamas have NOTHING on yoyos:
- May 23-24, Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras. Long known as one of the nation's mushroom "capitals," Morgan Hill celebrates its world renown crop with a 5k/10k walk/run, lots of food and informational booths, and performances. I think they'll be there, but try Mansmith's tri-tip and tell me on Tuesday how delicious it and the sauces are.
- May 23-24, Santa Cruz Longboard Surf Contest. Watch about 200 competitors vie to be the crowned champion. Free to watch from the shore.
- May 24, SF Bay Area Burmese New Year (in Union City). Learn more about Mynamar/Burma, eat some Burmese food, and party with some newly made friends! Free.
- May 24, The Golden Gate Park Band celebrates Memorial Day. Free.
- May 25, Free Walking Tour of San Francisco. Choose among Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf: Hidden History, and others. (*Japanese Tea Garden does have a small charge)
Above all, take a brief moment on Monday to remember those who died while serving our country.
HW this weekend: Mission Project is due on Wednesday as is California Studies Weekly #28.
