  • Sunday, 9/29 starting at 9 a.m.: Almaden Quicksilver County Park's four-mile hike will "recount" the area of New Almaden and the former bustling quicksilver (mercury) mines. The mines boomed with the Gold Rush as mercury was used in the separation process of gold from the ore. Please read more about the park as poison oak is common to the area and wildlife such as rattlesnakes may be present.
