HW - Monday, 1/5

PARENTS:
  • HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome back to school!
  • We started our Cinderella study before the break. Next step involves studying the elements of a Cinderella story. Last step is to write their own and produce their own book. This should take until late January to complete.
  • We will be practicing for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Common Core Test this month. No preparation is necessary; it will be for (re-) familiarizing the students with the controls, interface, and test questions. Tests will be conducted in the computer lab and on the Google Chromebooks. The scheduled dates are 1/14 (ELA, Part 1) and 1/21 (Math, Part 1).
  • We're only missing SIX Emergency Kits. Please turn in your child's kit.

    1.  RuskinFIT (Physical Exercise) - 60 minutes
    2.  Reading Is Cool - 30 minutes
    Reading Goal of the Month:  Most BOOKS Read
    Keep track of the books you read daily by writing them down on the Reading Log, get your parent or guardian to initial, total your pages read, and turn it in  February 3 ...Receive a Prize!
    Remember: Read your Accelerated Reader Book (selected with your ZPD in mind) and take the Quiz in class.
    3.  Reading Comprehension:  #1 "The Monkey's Paw" (postponed until tomorrow morning)
    4.  Wordly Wise Lesson 13a-b
    Wordly Wise 13 Test on Friday
    5.  Language Arts - Continue to write Cinderella Rough Draft; complete by Friday if possible

    7.  Science - Chapter 3, Lesson 1
    8.  History - California Studies Weekly due Thursday / Open Book Quiz on Thursday
    9.  Scholastic News - Pg. 8 / Debate / Sticky Situation due Friday.
