Weekend Notes

Couple of notes for the weekend:

• THIS WEEKEND: Final regular season games for the San Francisco Giants. Both weekend days have midday start times. (Unfortunately (or fortunately?), Oakland just finished their last home games of the season.)
• SUNDAY: Alum Rock YSI Wildlife Festival. Free with park admission.
• MONDAY:  NO Wordly Wise this week due to Spell-A-Thon; TFK Quiz on "FBI" cover story
• THURSDAY: Don Edwards Field Trip Training. WE STILL NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS! To sign up, please check the ClassDojo post on the field trip.
• Math HW: Text pgs. 102-103; 4-5 R/P
• Topic 4 Math Test on Thursday
• Science HW (due Tuesday!): pgs. 74 (Math Skills); 76-77 #1-20, Map the Concept
• Chapter 2 Test on Wednesday

• Students may have brought home with them their Lego paper to plan their name tags. THIS should only be worked on after they are done with their homework. I am still missing 2/3 of the class's plans.

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, here are some helpful links:

• Thursday, September 28 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.: Meet author Max Brallier, author of The Last Kids on Earth series, at Hicklebee's in San Jose's Willow Glen neighborhood.

• Sunday, October 1 from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.: Alum Rock YSI Nature Center's 32nd Annual Wildlife Festival. FREE with Park Admission (scroll down to bottom of page for more info).

• Wednesday, October 4 from 7 - 9 p.m.: Meet author Patricia Polacco, author of many children's books like The Keeping Quilt and Thank You, Mr. Falker, at Hicklebee's in San Jose's Willow Glen neighborhood. (She's also appearing on Tuesday, October 3 at Linden Tree Books in Los Altos.)

• Saturday, October 7 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.: City of Santa Clara Library is hosting their 2nd Annual Comic Con. Cosplayers, artists, Bay Area R2 Builders and more. Tickets are FREE as of this post so click here if you want to secure some. And click here for more information on the Comic Con.

• However, they should review their Time for Kids magazine for their Monday open "book" quiz. If they failed to do so, click here.
• This coming Wednesday:
• NO SCHOOL - teacher inservice
• NO Wednesday Folder. Expect it either on Tuesday or Thursday.
• PTA Reflections contest work is due by Friday, 9/29
• I am still missing about 12 student Emergency Kits. Please put one together and turn it in ASAP for your child.
