Parents:
  • On February 10, Ruskin will be celebrating Lunar New Year with an assembly. Returning, due to popularity, is the Magical Moonshine Theater. Upper grades time TBD.
  • This Wednesday is also WALK 'N ROLL to school day. Enjoy the beautiful weather and walk (or roll) to school!
  • On February 12, we will have a Valentine's exchange so if your child would like to exchange cards (handmade ones are cool though not required) then make sure they bring them on Friday, February 12. If you would like to bring treats as well, please make sure those are not homemade! (This event is not to replace lunch!)
  • This Friday is a MINIMUM DAY (1:00 p.m. dismissal). Please plan accordingly.

Earthquake in Taiwan

First, thoughts and prayers go to those affected by the earthquake in Taiwan. We have some families at Ruskin who have relatives there, so I hope they're unharmed.

Second, as a class, we've talked about earthquake materials and construction regulations in science so it's appropriate to bring this up. A person took pictures of a building that crumbled. Apparently, it looks like tin cans (and it was mentioned elsewhere, styrofoam) were used as "filler" building material.

(Photo from Daily Mail Online)

This is why we have regulations regarding the way buildings in California are built (to withstand earthquakes).

Super Bowl Weekend

It's going to be gorgeous - and busy - this weekend.

Enjoy it. Be safe.

The only homework this weekend is: keep working on their Cinderella stories/books.

Go Panthers.
