This is pretty cool: Disney's Frozen - "Let It Go" in 25 languages

This reminds me a lot of the great finale from Les Miserables: The Dream Cast in Concert, a production to celebrate its 10th Anniversary concert:

Encore #2: "Do You Hear the People Sing?" followed by "One Day More"

A little trivia related to Les Miserables:

  • Colm Wilkinson, who is thought of as the quintessential Jean Valjean, appears as the Bishop in the 2012 movie version of Les Miserables.
  • Lea Salonga, who plays Eponine in the 10th Anniversary performance, was the singing voice behind Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin and Mulan in Disney's Mulan and Mulan II. She later played Fantine in the 25th Anniversary performance of Les Miserables.
  • Judy Kuhn, who portrays Cossette in the 10th Anniversary performance, was the singing voice behind Pocahontas in Disney's Pocahontas and Pocahontas II and Princess Ting-Ting in Mulan II.

ENJOY!

The Kid from Our Scholastic News Issue

Since we don't have a new Scholastic News issue for this week due to the MLK holiday, I did have one saved from earlier in the year.

In this issue, there was a boy in one of the articles who knew how to tickle the ivories at a young age: Ethan Bortnick.

Here's the link to his YouTube channel. Feel free to peruse the videos, especially the ones when he was younger:  http://www.youtube.com/user/ethanbortnick?feature=watch

NOTES:
  • Tomorrow is our Code Red Drill. We will practice in the morning and then execute the drill - along with the rest of the school - after the morning recess. It should take about an hour. Please let your child know that their safety is paramount and we must work together as a class - as silently as we can - to create our barricades and wait patiently. A large portion of the day will be dedicated to this as clean up and restoration of the room will be time-consuming.

Double Coins on Sumdog

For a limited time, Sumdog will be rewarding students double coins for every correct answer.

This special reward period begins on 1/20 and ends on 1/24.

Also, they have released a new app titled, "Sumdog" (how original, huh?). This app replaces their old "Snowball" app and let's you play "Snowball" and, if you have a subscription, "Kiteboarding." They will be using this new app to launch free and subscribed games. The app is FREE, but some games will require a subscription ($6/month, I believe).

Visit Sumdog.com for more info.
