Ruskin Notes
  • History Review Packet is due Thursday, 10/3. Students must use their books to help them complete the packet. Unit 1 Open Book Test on Friday, 10/4.

  • Saturday, 9/28 starting at 11 a.m.: Hicklebee's book store in downtown Willow Glen is hosting Rosemary Wells, the popular author/illustrator best known for Hand in Hand, the Max and Ruby series.   • Saturday, 9/28 starting at 2 p.m.: Barnes and Noble is celebrating "Demigod Day" in honor of Rick Riordan and his famous novel series at their stores. The event may include activities like a demigod scavenger hunt or deciphering secret codes with the Greek alphabet.   • Sunday, 9/29 starting at 9 a.m.: Almaden Quicksilver County Park's four-mile hike will "recount" the area of New Almaden and the former bustling quicksilver (mercury) mines. The mines boomed with the Gold Rush as mercury was used in the separation process of gold from the ore. Please read more about the park as poison oak is common to the area and wildlife such as rattlesnakes may be present.   • Parent chaperones for the Levi's Stadium field trip have been notified. Thank you to all who expressed interest! There were so many it's too bad we could only take three! BUT WE WILL NEED YOU for the November 1 Don Edwards Field Trip (we'll need at least 6-8 parents), so please sign up for that trip!
  • Parent Help needed to put butcher paper up on the Multipurpose room's walls! Meet in the Multipurpose room this coming Monday, September 16 at 2:30 p.m.
  • The first Ruskin Science Lab day with Ms. Turner and Ms. Tom is tomorrow. Our time slot for the rest of the year will be first thing in the morning on Fridays. Make-up lab days, however, may be on any day of the week that fits our schedule.

  • Also, we have finalized the date for the second field trip to Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge in Alviso: Friday, November 1. We will need a lot of parent volunteers to lead a few class sessions and walk student groups from one station to another.
